For estate planning, consult a licensed attorney. This setting only tells Fablely's internal systems who should receive your stories if you become inactive. It has no binding legal effect outside Fablely.
How the inactivity trigger works
- Fablely tracks the last time you sign in or use your account (
last_active_at). - If 24 months pass without any activity, we send you a "we miss you" email.
- If you don't respond within 90 more days, we email your designated heir with a one-time link to claim access to your saved stories.
- Your heir signs in (or creates a Fablely account if they don't have one) and verifies their email.
- They get read-only access to the stories you'd saved — they can't create or change anything.
You can update or remove your heir anytime, and signing in resets the inactivity clock.
Download everything we hold about you — your stories as text and your account data as JSON — in a ZIP we email to your verified address.
Deletion is permanent after the 30-day grace period. Take a moment to download your data first.
